First Amendment Center

Literature Resource Center  
LRC provides biographical, bibliographical, and critical content on literary figures from all time periods writing in the genres of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, drama, history, journalism, and more. LRC includes most, but not all, of: Contemporary Authors, Contemporary Literary Criticism, and the Dictionary of Literary Biography, and other selected Gale print resources. For literary research, this is THE place to begin!
Gale Literary Index is a master index to every literary series published by Gale in print--including some series not included in LRC. This index is helpful when using the library's print versions of the Gale resources. (Thomson Gale)


MagillOnLiterature Plus  
Provides full-text access to critical analyses and brief plot summaries of the most studied works in the history of literature. Includes the complete contents of 31 sets of reference books. (EBSCO)


Modern Language Association Language Map of the U.S.  
"The MLA Language Map uses data from the 2000 United States census to display the locations and numbers of speakers of thirty languages and three groups of less commonly spoken languages in the United States." Maps are interactive and customizable.


North American Theater Online  
A comprehensive resource covering all aspects of Canadian and American Theater. Includes the full-text of many plays, along with reference materials discussing plays, people, theaters, productions, and production companies. Also includes images, playbills, postcards, scrapbooks and other resources. North American Theatre Online provides "one-stop" access to the content in the following full-text play collections:


Oxford English Dictionary  
The definitive English language dictionary. In addition to definitions, you will find etymologies and quotations demonstrating usage throughout the history of the word. The online interface makes searching any part of the dictionary easy.
